Kristy Wiebe
My journey with yoga began in 2010 as a student, when I quickly discovered the profound impact it had on my physical body, mental health, and overall well-being. In 2012, I completed my 200-hour certification through Empowered Yoga in Edmonton, specializing in Vinyasa/Power Flow and Yin Yoga.
From 2013–2017, I began teaching in a CrossFit gym and small studio in Leduc before expanding to teach in Morinville’s Body Barn Studio and Red Water Fitness Center in 2018. In 2019, I added the Footprints Healing Center to my schedule, offering yoga as part of their eight-week recovery program for individuals healing from addiction.
During the COVID shutdowns, I adapted by moving online through YouTube and social media live sessions. In May 2022, just after restrictions lifted, I took over the lease at Body Barn and opened Optimal Yoga and Wellness Inc. While running the studio, I also worked with youth hockey teams, the Jessica Martel Foundation, SCARS, and partnered with local businesses for community events such as Puppy Yoga. I also hosted a wide range of wellness and spirituality-based events with other facilitators.
Later in 2022, I overcame personal challenges, including recovery from a high-speed collision, while balancing multiple jobs and navigating the complexities of running a studio. Despite my dedication, Optimal Yoga and Wellness closed in March 2024 due to financial strain.
In November 2024, I joined the Edmonton Garrison Fitness Center at CFB Edmonton as a casual yoga teacher, where I continue to share my passion for movement, mindfulness, and community. Alongside yoga, I am also Zumba® Basic certified and look forward to expanding my training with the Zumba program. I am currently working toward my Yoga Therapy certification, focusing on one-on-one, personalized practices.
With a background in both customer service and as a physiotherapy assistant, I bring a unique blend of knowledge into my classes. My teaching style is educational and empowering, encouraging students to connect deeply with their physical bodies and, in turn, their mind and spirit.

For me, yoga and Zumba have been more than just movement—they’ve been tools for resilience, growth, and healing through life’s challenges. My classes are rooted in compassion, humility, and authenticity. There are no expectations when you step onto your mat or the dance floor—just the opportunity to breathe, move, and recharge. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where you can let go and simply be.
